Thailand Seizes 8.6 Million Yaba Pills in Massive Drug Bust

Thai soldiers in Chiang Mai province recovered more than 8.6 million Yaba (methamphetamine) tablets after a two‑stage operation in the Doi‑Fai Pass area. The tablets, marked with the "999" stamp, were found hidden in rock‑side crevices and in provisional backpacks. The seizure follows an earlier capture of 7.78 million pills on July 17, representing one of the largest drug interdictions in the region.

In India’s Assam state, police in Bilasipara raided a residence in Suwapata Part‑I village and confiscated about 7,000 Yaba tablets, valued at over one crore rupees. The operation led to the arrest of alleged dealer Alam Ali, while a second suspect fled. Authorities are extending the investigation to trace the broader trafficking network.

Both actions underline intensified anti‑drug efforts across Southeast and South Asia, targeting the illegal methamphetamine trade that spans the two countries.
