Thailand stock market closes lower amid global market caution

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has recorded two consecutive sessions of declines, with the index falling 8.07 points, or 0.50 percent, to close at 1,594.30. The downturn was driven by losses in the food, finance, industrial, property, resource, and service sectors.

Market sentiment remains cautious globally as investors await key U.S. inflation data, which is expected to influence the Federal Reserve’s upcoming monetary policy meeting. This uncertainty mirrored recent performance on Wall Street, where the Dow, NASDAQ, and S&P 500 all saw declines.

In the energy sector, West Texas Intermediate crude prices fell 3.1 percent to $89.70 a barrel. The decline follows reports that crude oil exports from Saudi Arabian Red Sea ports are recovering after a recent attack on a key pipeline.
