Thailand to launch cancer screening center at Rama 9 MRT station

The Thai government is developing a “Health Station” concept to integrate preventive healthcare services with public transportation. The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) is collaborating with the Department of Medical Services and the National Cancer Institute to establish the “NCI Wellness & Cancer Prevention Center @MRT” at a station on the Orange Line project located on Rama 9 Road.

The facility will occupy over 2,000 square meters and aims to serve approximately 60,000 people annually. The center is designed to provide proactive cancer screening, risk assessments for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), health consultations, vaccinations, and outpatient services.

By placing medical services within the daily commute of urban workers, the initiative seeks to increase early detection rates and overcome time and travel constraints. The project is currently in the development and renovation phase and is not yet open to the public.
