Thailand tourism authority unveils 2027 transformation strategy

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced a new strategic roadmap for 2027, designating it as the 'Year of Transformation.' The initiative aims to reposition Thailand as Asia’s leading high-value and meaningful destination, moving the focus from sheer visitor volume to quality and long-term competitiveness.

Key objectives for 2027 include achieving at least 5% growth in tourism revenue compared to 2026 and establishing a 60:40 visitor distribution between major and emerging destinations. The TAT also intends to place Thailand among the top three Asian destinations for traveler loyalty.

The strategy is organized into four pillars: rebalancing the market portfolio to reduce reliance on specific markets, developing an experience platform—utilizing the concept 'Healing is the New Luxury'—creating new growth engines such as well-being tourism and the festival economy, and fostering collective transformation within the sector.
