Thailand upgrades industrial ecosystem to attract global investment
The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (I-EA-T) is upgrading its industrial ecosystem to attract global investment by reducing the time between investment decisions and the start of operations. Under its ‘I-EA-T RAPID Forward’ strategy, the authority aims to remove regulatory barriers, modernize infrastructure, and implement clean-energy systems.
Key initiatives include the ‘Thailand FastPass’ program, which accelerates the transition from licensing to commercial operations, and the implementation of the Standard Code of Practice (SCOP) to allow site preparation during environmental assessments. I-EA-T is also prioritizing five ‘Quick Wins,’ such as upgrading smart-grid systems and expanding the Total Solution Center Plus+.
To support the transition to a low-carbon economy, the World Bank Group is supporting a $200 million ‘Low Carbon Cities and Carbon Market Development Project.’ Additionally, the Smart Park Industrial Estate is offering incentives for ‘New S-Curve’ industries, including a two-year waiver on land rent and facility maintenance fees for qualifying investors through September 2027.
