Thailand upgrades JIC Nan to coordinate flood relief

The Thai government has upgraded the Nan Flood Prevention and Mitigation Incident Command Center (JIC Nan) to serve as a central coordination hub for flood relief efforts in northern Thailand. This initiative aims to match donations with the actual needs of affected areas to prevent surpluses of certain items while addressing shortages of essential supplies.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Periswiwatana stated that the center will collect daily requirements from shelters and central kitchens. Recent requests include staples such as chicken, rice, fresh vegetables, seasonings, and food containers. To ensure efficient logistics, JIC Nan will provide updates on required items twice daily at 10:00 and 16:00. The government encourages private sectors and citizens to check these official updates before sending donations to ensure aid reaches those in need effectively.
