Thailand vocational volunteers launch flood recovery repair services

The Thai government has deployed vocational education volunteers to assist citizens in recovering from recent flooding. Under the direction of Education Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong, the Office of the Vocational Education Commission is utilizing the ‘Fix it Center’ initiative to provide essential repair services.

Volunteers, including teachers and students, are repairing electrical appliances, vehicles, agricultural tools, and water pumps to help reduce the financial burden on affected families. The initiative aims to help residents restore their livelihoods and avoid the high costs of replacing damaged equipment.

As of early October, 59 service points have been established across Bangkok and five surrounding provinces: Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Prakan, and Samut Sakhon. The recovery mission involves collaboration between 16 universities, 24 Department of Skill Development agencies, and 19 vocational education units, offering repairs alongside medical, public health, and food services.
