Thailand's Pathum Thani Barrier Site Overrun with Thousands of Used Condoms

A storage yard for concrete road barriers in Pathum Thani Province, Thailand, was discovered on July 29 littered with thousands of used condoms, men’s and women’s underwear, lubricants, tissues and energy‑drink bottles. The site, managed by the Department of Rural Roads, is located near the Ratchaphruek Road heading toward Kanchanaphisek Road in the Bang Duea subdistrict.

Motorists had complained that many vehicles parked along the roadside each night, prompting concerns that the secluded area was being used for illegal sexual activity. Staff said people entered the unfenced yard through gaps between stacked concrete blocks and had fashioned makeshift private spaces with mats, plastic sheets as roofs and partitions.

Police inspected the location, confirmed the extensive litter, and warned that anyone caught breaking the law could face legal action. The department plans to install fencing or other barriers to prevent unauthorised access and will increase patrols to deter future misconduct.
