Thailand's People's Party denies plan to end universal health coverage

The People's Party (พรรคประชาชน) in Thailand, led by Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, rejected circulating rumours that it intends to dismantle the 30‑baht universal health coverage scheme, commonly known as the "golden card". The party stressed that the scheme provides essential access to public health services for all citizens and is a recognised achievement of Thailand’s health system.

The party affirmed its support for amending the National Health Security Act to make the programme financially sustainable and efficient, without reducing patient benefits or increasing costs. It also called for greater participation of patients, health‑care workers and the public in reforms of the National Health Security Office, and said it will review government‑draft legislation before deciding on any party action.
