Thailand's Sarunrak Vitidsarn and India's Ginpaul Sonna win inaugural Philippine International Challenge singles crowns
The inaugural Philippine International Challenge, presented by the Philippine Sports Commission, was held on Sunday at Gameville Central Park in Mandaluyong City, Philippines. The tournament attracted players from 28 countries and featured both singles and doubles events.
Thailand's 19‑year‑old Sarunrak Vitidsarn captured the women's singles title, defeating top‑seed Tidapron Kleebyeesun 21‑9, 21‑23, 21‑16 after a one‑hour match. She said, "When I came here, I was really expecting to land at least in the quarterfinals… but I took it one by one, point by point," and expressed gratitude for the breakthrough. India's 20‑year‑old Ginpaul Sonna won the men's singles, beating fellow Indian Aryamann Tandon 25‑23, 13‑21, 21‑16 in a 55‑minute battle. Sonna described the victory as "more than expected" and a springboard for future tournaments. India also secured the women's doubles crown, while Malaysia claimed the remaining doubles titles.
