Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan film delayed as producer waits for censor certificate

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thalapathy Vijay's final film, Jana Nayagan, was slated for a worldwide theatrical release on 9 January but remains unreleased because the Central Board of Film Certification has not yet issued its certificate. Producer Venkat K Narayana told the press that the certificate is expected soon and that a new release date will be announced once it is received, after which the film will launch globally.

The project, a remake of the 2023 Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari and made on an estimated budget of Rs 300 crore, features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Menon, Prakash Raj and Priyamani. An HD print of the movie was leaked online during the delay, fueling fan frustration and criticism of the censor board. The producer also expressed happiness at Vijay's appointment as Tamil Nadu chief minister, calling him the state's “Jana Nayagan.”
