Thalles De Souza Moves from Wendy's to Yale with Managers' Help

Thalles De Souza, a Massachusetts teenager, worked at a Wendy's restaurant while attending high school. Managers Usama El‑Sehrawey and Terry Smily pledged to set aside money for each hour he worked, promising to fund his college education.

With that support De Souza first attended Cape Cod Community College and later earned admission to Yale University in Connecticut, where he will major in political science and minor in human rights. He said, "It changed my whole perspective about life and about what I could actually do because someone believed in me." De Souza hopes to become a lawyer and public servant.
