Thames Unfiltered podcast explores the River Thames' health and history

The six‑part "Thames Unfiltered" podcast, presented by business journalist Lucy Tobin, examines the current state and future of the River Thames. Episodes trace the river’s recovery from being declared biologically dead, discuss how health is measured, and revisit historic milestones such as the 1858 Great Stink and the Victorian sewer system designed by engineer Sir Joseph Bazalgette.

The series features a range of voices—including scientists, campaigners, Thames Water officials and critics—who debate challenges posed by climate change, population growth and increasing water demand. It also looks at major infrastructure projects like the £5 billion Tideway Tunnel (the "super sewer") and reflects on the legacy of the Bazalgette family, with commentary from Sir Peter Bazalgette.
