Thanasis Antetokounmpo signs 2+1 year deal with Aris BC

Thanasis Antetokounmpo has officially returned to Greece, signing a 2+1 year contract with Aris BC. The 34-year-old forward joins the Basket League team after seven years in the NBA, where he won a championship with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021.

Antetokounmpo will reunite with his brother, Kostas, at Aris. He described himself as a player for “special missions,” emphasizing his desire to provide toughness, energy, and personality to the team's front line rather than focusing solely on statistics. He noted that the decision to return was significant and influenced by the warm reception from the Thessaloniki community.

The signing was facilitated by team owner Richard Siao, who maintains close ties with the Antetokounmpo family. Antetokounmpo's return is expected to bolster the Greek National Team for the 2027 World Cup qualifiers.
