Thanasis Davakis conducts defense diplomacy and island inspections

Greek Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis conducted several high-level engagements regarding national security and international diplomacy.

In a diplomatic capacity, Davakis met with Japanese Deputy Minister of Defense Masahisa Miyazaki in Athens. The discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in the sectors of defense, security, and technology. Both officials emphasized their shared commitment to international law, the law of the sea, and regional stability, noting that their maritime traditions and shared values provide a strong foundation for strategic defense partnerships.

On a domestic front, Davakis visited the islands of Kos and Psimiro to inspect military readiness. He visited the headquarters of the 80th Higher National Guard Battalion Command and the Observation Post on Psimiro, where he met with military personnel and conscripts. During his visit to Psimiro, he also met with local residents to discuss community issues, specifically addressing the need for consistent medical staffing at the island's regional clinic.
