Thane Court to hear Rs 2,000 crore defamation suit against Thackeray and Raut

A Thane court has scheduled a preliminary hearing for October 21 regarding a Rs 2,000 crore defamation lawsuit filed by Satish Salian against Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders Uddhav Thackeray, Aaditya Thackeray, and MP Sanjay Raut.

Salian, the father of the late Disha Salian, alleges that the defendants made derogatory, misleading, and defamatory statements across social media and digital platforms. He claims these statements attempted to portray his legal pursuit of justice for his daughter as a political conspiracy, thereby damaging his and his lawyers' reputations.

Through his advocates, Salian is seeking several forms of interim relief, including the immediate removal of allegedly defamatory content and an injunction against future similar allegations. The plaintiff is also requesting a public apology, the attachment of the defendants' properties, and an order for the defendants to provide a bank guarantee of Rs 2,000 crore to secure the claimed damages.
