Thane, India: Woman arrested for infant killing; man beaten to death

Police in Thane, Maharashtra arrested a 26‑year‑old housewife after she allegedly strangled her 1‑year‑old son with a cloth rope in the Jeevan Baugh locality. The child’s body was taken for post‑mortem, and investigators are probing the motive behind the killing.

Separately, a 23‑year‑old man was fatally assaulted near Upavan lake after an alleged mobile‑phone theft. Two suspects from Uttar Pradesh were apprehended at Kasara railway station, and a further 13 individuals on the Gorakhpur Express were detained pending investigation. The victim’s body was also sent for post‑mortem examination.
