Thane land dispute: Company surrenders construction permit after PM Modi meeting

A long-standing land dispute in Mira Road, Thane district, has taken a significant turn following an 81-year-old resident's meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Asgarali Vohra, who claimed to have attended school with the Prime Minister in Vadnagar, met with Modi on September 8 to request intervention and a CBI investigation into the matter.

Vohra alleges that the approximately 2,810 square meter plot he purchased in 1989 in the Bhayandar East area has been subject to illegal occupation and document manipulation by construction companies since 2011. Following the high-profile meeting, Seven Eleven Constructions Private Limited has initiated the process to surrender its commencement certificate for the disputed plot to the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation's town planning department.

Additionally, BJP MLA Narendra Mehta has reportedly stated that the company should vacate the land and surrender its construction permits. The company, which claims to have purchased the land in 2019, has requested a refund of the project fees deposited due to the ongoing ownership dispute.
