Thane man booked for allegedly holding both Indian and Pakistani passports

Thane police have registered an FIR against Chand Ali Abdul Rashid Sayed for allegedly possessing both Indian and Pakistani passports. The case was initiated at the Hill Line police station following suspicions raised by the Mumbai Regional Passport Office regarding the individual's documentation and citizenship status.

According to investigators, the accused traveled to Pakistan in 2009 using an Indian passport to visit relatives. It is alleged that he subsequently obtained a Pakistani passport using fraudulent documents while concealing his Indian citizenship. He reportedly used the Pakistani passport to re-enter India. In 2024, he allegedly applied for a new Indian passport while again withholding information regarding his previous Indian passport and Pakistani documentation.

The accused faces charges under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Passports Act, and the Foreigners Act. Security agencies are currently investigating the circumstances and motives behind obtaining both passports, as well as whether any other individuals were involved in the process.
