Thanh Hóa teacher investigated after 3‑year‑old child falls into coma

A three‑year‑old boy from the Hải Thượng area of Thanh Hóa province was attending an intervention class for children with hyperactivity and autism when he fell into a deep coma after the midday nap on 10 July 2026. After waking, the child showed lethargy, a bruised right rib area and difficulty breathing. His mother, Ngô Thị Ngọc Huyền, took him to a local hospital and then to the Central Pediatric Hospital, where doctors confirmed internal injuries, a rib bruise and an adenovirus infection.

Police investigations revealed that the class was run by teacher Hàn Thị Hằng, who was the sole caregiver for twenty children that day. She left the room to rest while the children slept, and only discovered the boy’s condition after he awoke. The investigation has identified possible "intentional injury" and authorities are continuing to gather statements and evidence.
