Thanh Hoa province manages flooding and landslide evacuations

In Thanh Hoa province, heavy rains and extreme weather have caused significant flooding and landslides. Local authorities have evacuated 151 households, totaling 623 people, from high-risk landslide areas to ensure safety. In Kim Tan commune, 217 households (899 people) were moved to higher ground due to rising water levels in the Buoi River.

The flooding has impacted extensive agricultural areas, submerging approximately 1,473 hectares of rice, 266 hectares of vegetables, 406 hectares of newly planted sugarcane, and 102 hectares of aquaculture. Infrastructure damage includes a 50-meter embankment collapse in Kim Tan, 195 meters of damaged irrigation canals, and broken power poles in Ha Long commune.

Local agencies and the Song Chu Co., Ltd are operating pumping stations and sluice gates to drain water and mitigate crop damage. Several transport routes in the midland and mountainous regions remain blocked due to flooding and landslides.
