Thanksgiving food prices projected to rise in 2026

Thanksgiving grocery costs are projected to rise in 2026 compared to previous years. According to PwC, the average American family is expected to spend approximately $90 on the holiday, up from $88 last year.

Specific items are seeing significant price fluctuations. Turkey prices are expected to increase by nearly 8 percent, while cranberry prices are forecasted to rise by nearly 15 percent due to a smaller harvest and higher production costs. However, some items like butter and cream are seeing decreases of 10 percent and 6 percent, respectively.

Retailers are offering various meal packages to assist with budgeting. Aldi is promoting a Thanksgiving meal basket for under $39 that includes a 16-pound turkey, sides, and pumpkin pie for up to 10 people. Sam's Club is offering a larger meal deal for approximately $160 designed to feed up to 16 people, featuring ham, smoked turkey, and other sides.
