Thanos Glavinas says PASOK will aim for first place in next Greek election
Thanos Glavinas, a member of PASOK’s Political Council, told ERTnews that the party’s primary goal is to win the upcoming national election. He urged the New Democracy‑led parliamentary group to expel MP Dimitris Kyriazidis, calling the MP’s recent statements “offensive and shameful.”
Glavinas also highlighted the burden of indirect taxes on Greek households, singling out the Special Consumption Tax on fuel and urging that it be reduced to the EU average. He reiterated PASOK’s proposal to restore the 13th pension in two stages – the first year would cost about €420 million, with a €300 monthly benefit – arguing that pensioners support many families and the measure would have broader socioeconomic benefits. He added that recent polls show a clearer political landscape ahead of the Thessaloniki International Fair.
