Thaís de Melo's Book Reaches Jabuti Acadêmico Semifinals

The book *Zooplâncton: a vida invisível na água doce*, written by biologist and UFMT technical‑administrative employee Thaís de Melo, advanced to the semifinals of the 3rd Prêmio Jabuti Acadêmico. It is the first work from the field of limnology – the study of freshwater ecosystems – to achieve this stage in the award, which honors scientific, technical and educational publications in Brazil.

The project was financed through UFMT’s 2024 Pró‑Extensão call, illustrated by Renata Ramos, and will be launched at the XX Brazilian Limnology Congress in Juiz de Fora. Ecologist Fabio Scarano, curator of the Museu do Amanhã and two‑time Jabuti winner, praised the book’s importance and urged broader recognition of scientific outreach from public universities.
