Thato Sibiya joins LOSC Lille on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns has confirmed that 20-year-old defender Thato Sibiya has joined French Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille on a season-long loan. The agreement includes an option for Lille to purchase the player permanently.

Sibiya, a South African youth international, was part of the country’s 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations winning squad and participated in the U20 World Cup. While he made only four first-team appearances for Sundowns, the move is viewed as a development-focused opportunity for the player to gain experience in a European environment.

Lille has already completed the medical examination for the defender, who is expected to transition directly from South African football to Ligue 1.
