THB Hotels executive advocates for sustainability as a management tool
Ana Zorita, Director of Human Development and Excellence at THB Hotels, argues that sustainability in the hotel sector must evolve from a mere regulatory requirement into a vital tool for economic management and competitiveness.
Speaking ahead of the V Tourism Sustainability Meeting organized by HOSTELTUR in Madrid, Zorita noted that her company shifted its perspective after realizing that monitoring consumption and waste generation provided critical data on process efficiency. By analyzing why, where, and when consumption occurs, rather than just how much is used, sustainability becomes a management instrument.
Zorita highlighted that investments in energy and water resource management offer the clearest economic returns. Utilizing monitoring technology allows hotels to detect deviations, optimize consumption, and reduce operating costs. She warned that the cost of inaction is a loss of profitability, emphasizing that technology and data-driven knowledge are essential to ensure investments generate real value.
