The Absolution Sequence releases debut album ‘Dread Cycle’

Tasmanian technical death and groove metal band The Absolution Sequence has released its debut full-length album, titled ‘Dread Cycle’. The release follows several years of EPs and singles from the Hobart-based group.

The album features nine tracks exploring themes of grief, trauma, anger, and growth, including topics such as family violence, religious blackmail, war, and mass starvation. Musically, the record blends technical death metal precision with modern deathcore elements, utilizing complex riffs, rapid guitar parts, and varying drum patterns.

‘Dread Cycle’ was produced by Chris Themelco and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios. The band is scheduled to perform live in Melbourne and Hobart in late August.
