The Assassins opens 21st Paris Korean Film Festival
The film ‘The Assassins’, directed by Heo Jin-ho, has been selected as the opening film for the 21st Paris Korean Film Festival (FFCP). The film, which explores the investigation into the 1974 assassination attempt on the South Korean First Lady, sold out its tickets within three minutes of release.
Local audiences in Paris have responded positively to the film's themes of media freedom, democracy, and the pursuit of truth against political power. The festival, which runs until November 3, features 69 Korean feature and short films. In addition to screenings in Paris, the festival will expand to Lille, France, from November 4 to 8.
‘The Assassins’ follows a global trajectory after being featured at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was a runner-up for the International Audience Award. It has also received invitations to film festivals in Rio de Janeiro, Singapore, Hawaii, and Philadelphia.
