The Asylum releases low‑budget mockbuster 'The Odyssey' ahead of Nolan's blockbuster

The Asylum, a studio known for quickly producing low‑budget versions of high‑profile movies, has launched its own digital release titled *The Odyssey* just before Christopher Nolan’s big‑budget adaptation hits cinemas. The mockbuster follows Homer’s epic, depicting Odysseus’s ten‑year‑long return to Ithaca, but with a B‑movie emphasis on monsters, angry gods and other hazards. The film stars Dominic Keating as Antinous, Myrom Kingery, Morgan Flanagan as Penelope, Llana Barron as Athena and Patrick Byrnes as Telemachus, and is promoted as a fast, brutal counterpart to Nolan’s prestige version. A trailer has been released and the movie is slated for a U.S. release this month; details of a Dutch launch have not been confirmed. The project continues The Asylum’s tradition of capitalising on major releases by offering inexpensive, quickly produced alternatives.
