New York Times expands digital puzzle offerings with Strands and Connections

The New York Times continues to expand its digital gaming portfolio with various daily word and logic puzzles, including the recently launched Strands and the popular Connections. Strands is a beta word-search game where players identify themed words and a central “spangram” within a grid. Connections requires players to group sixteen words into four distinct categories based on shared characteristics.

In addition to the standard Connections game, The Athletic has collaborated with the New York Times to offer a specialized Sports Edition of the puzzle. Other featured games include Pips, a domino-based grid puzzle involving various mathematical and logical conditions. These games are designed for both web and mobile platforms, often featuring daily resets and social media sharing capabilities.
