The Batman Part II delayed to February 2028

Warner Bros. announced that the sequel to Matt Reeves’ 2022 reboot, The Batman Part II, will now open in theaters on February 18 2028, pushing it back from the previously scheduled October 1 2027 date. The shift follows a broader reshuffling of Warner Bros.’ release calendar tied to the pending Paramount‑Warner merger and to give the production additional post‑production time.

Director Matt Reeves posted the first public camera‑test footage, a 30‑second clip of Robert Pattinson in an updated Batsuit turning toward the camera amid rain‑soaked, snow‑hinted Gotham. The test also highlighted the use of custom Panavision anamorphic lenses designed for the film.

The sequel retains much of the original cast—Pattinson as Batman, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred—and adds newcomers such as Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Sebastian Koch and Brian Tyree Henry. The film is being shot at Leavesden Studios in the United Kingdom and is expected to gross strongly after the first film’s $772 million worldwide box‑office.

The delay marks the third schedule change since the sequel’s announcement, making the gap between the two movies almost six years, an unusually long interval for a superhero franchise.
