The Battle of Olympus developers announce NES remake for Steam
The original developers of the 1988 NES action-adventure 'The Battle of Olympus' are returning to remake the title for PC. Yukio and Reiko Horimoto, who handled programming and graphics respectively during the original release, are now working together as a married couple to lead the project via the revived studio Infinity Co.
The remake is scheduled to enter Early Access on Steam in January 2027. Rather than a simple port, the developers intend to rebuild the code from scratch and redraw the pixel art while maintaining the original gameplay feel. The Early Access version is expected to include the full content of the NES original, with a subsequent development phase planned for 12 to 18 months.
The original game, which drew inspiration from Greek mythology and Nintendo’s 'Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link', was released by Nintendo in Europe in 1991. The developers have described this remake as their “last great game project.”
