The Beatles: Historical milestones from their final concert to international expansion
The Beatles' musical legacy is marked by several defining historical moments. On January 30, 1969, the band performed their final concert on the rooftop of the Apple Records offices at 3 Savile Row in London. Accompanied by Billy Preston on electric piano and producer Sir George Martin, the 40-minute session included performances of songs such as ‘Get Back’, ‘Don’t Let Me Down’, ‘I’ve Got a Feeling’, ‘One After 909’, ‘Dig a Pony’, and ‘Let It Be’.
Earlier in their career, specifically on October 23, 1963, the group recorded ‘I Wanna Be Your Man’ at EMI’s Abbey Road studios in London. This Lennon-McCartney composition later became a single for the Rolling Stones. Following that studio session, the band traveled to Sweden to begin a tour that started in Stockholm on October 24, 1963, marking a significant step in their transition from UK success to an international phenomenon.
