The Block to renovate Sunbury psychiatric hospital site

The reality renovation series ‘The Block’ has announced its 2027 location at the former Sunbury psychiatric hospital site in Victoria. Nine Entertainment confirmed the production will acquire three heritage buildings at Jacksons Hill to transform them into five family homes. The project is described as the most ambitious in the show’s history.

Separately, properties from a previous season on Phillip Island have seen significant price decreases. A house renovated by Courtney McInnes and Grant Freeman, previously purchased by billionaire Adrian Portelli for $3.3 million in 2024, recently sold via private treaty for a price significantly lower than the original purchase, following an initial asking price of $1.7 million to $1.85 million. The season's winning house is also currently on the market with a guide of $1.4 million to $1.5 million, approximately $2 million less than Portelli’s original purchase price.
