The Boring Company modifies Tesla-powered trucks for underground freight

The Boring Company has unveiled a modified Prufrock Liner Truck designed to transport standard 20-foot shipping containers through its tunnels. The vehicle utilizes Tesla Model 3 batteries and drive units to power its operations.

Previously used primarily for hauling concrete and precast tunnel segments, the updated platform allows for the movement of standardized freight with minimal clearance. The remote-operated sleds can pull up to 22,000 pounds, a capacity sufficient for moving heavy tunnel segments or commercial containers.

This development integrates logistics directly into the tunnel construction process, potentially reducing the need for separate heavy-haul setups. The company has ongoing or planned projects in Nashville and the UAE, where these repurposed electric vehicle components may be utilized for subterranean logistics.
