The Breeders' ‘Pod’ highlighted as a defining 90s indie-rock album

In a retrospective analysis of 90s music, The Breeders' debut album, ‘Pod’, is highlighted as a defining and deeply personal release of the era. The album served as a vehicle for Kim Deal to establish her identity as a composer following her time with the Pixies.

Formed alongside her sister Kelley Deal and Tanya Donelly, the group emerged as a means of creative liberation. Despite the rigid structures of the music industry at the time, the project allowed Deal to step out from the shadow of her previous musical associations and deliver a unique indie-rock sound.
