The Chainsmokers depart Columbia and Disruptor Records
Electronic music duo The Chainsmokers, consisting of Drew Taggart and Alex Pall, have announced they are leaving Columbia and Disruptor Records to become independent artists.
The decision ends an 11-year partnership that began in 2015 with the single ‘Good Intentions’. During their tenure with the labels, the duo released five studio albums and achieved major international success with hits such as ‘Closer’, ‘Roses’, ‘Don’t Let Me Down’, and ‘Something Just Like This’. Their most recent release under the labels was the ‘Love Is Kind’ EP in May 2026.
In a joint social media statement, the duo expressed gratitude to their teams at Columbia and Disruptor, noting that the partnership resulted in ‘unimaginable success’. While they did not specify the reasons for the departure or indicate any conflict, they stated they are looking forward to a new chapter focused on experimentation and fun. Alex Pall previously noted on LinkedIn that the changes were intended to ‘shake things up’ and bring fresh perspectives to the project.
