The Checkers to release 1986 Nippon Budokan concert on Blu-ray
The Japanese rock band The Checkers has announced the first Blu-ray release of their 1986 ‘FLASH!! TOUR at Nippon Budokan’ concert. Part of the ‘Remaster Edition’ series, the disc is scheduled for release on December 23, 2026.
This edition will feature 26 songs, re-edited from a limited 2001 mail-order DVD. The release includes upgraded video quality and a Dolby Atmos audio mix. The tour, which marked a transition in the band's musical style toward self-composed works, began and ended with the single ‘NANA’.
To celebrate the release, a special screening event is planned for January 13, 2027, in Ikebukuro, followed by theatrical screenings starting in February 2027. The band has already released a preview of the performance of ‘NANA’ on their official YouTube channel.
