The Citadel defeats South Carolina State to end 13-game streak

The Citadel secured a 34-31 victory over South Carolina State on Saturday, ending the Bulldogs' 13-game winning streak. The game was decided in the final seconds when Evan Kiely converted a 31-yard field goal as time expired.

South Carolina State, ranked No. 15 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25, trailed by 14 points in the second half before mounting a comeback. The Bulldogs tied the game at 31-31 following a six-yard touchdown run by Josh Shaw with 8:16 remaining in the fourth quarter. However, The Citadel responded with an 85-yard drive in just over two minutes, highlighted by a 44-yard run from Gavin Garcia and a 34-yard pass from Nick Billoups to Michael Lorino.

Gavin Garcia led The Citadel's offense with 167 rushing yards and two touchdowns. For South Carolina State, quarterback Keely Watson completed 20 of 31 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns, while Mason Pickett-Hicks contributed 90 rushing yards and a touchdown.
