The Collective at Norman implements large-scale student housing technology

The Collective at Norman, a 684-bed student housing community near the University of Oklahoma, has implemented a large-scale technology transformation. This project marks the first full-scale deployment of a native mobile wallet experience for an off-campus student housing facility in the United States.

To support this connected resident experience, the property underwent a significant broadband infrastructure upgrade. In partnership with IRIS Technologies and Pavlov Media, the facility implemented a fiber-to-the-unit (FTTU) architecture using Active Ethernet. This includes a 10-gigabit internet backbone and 1-gigabit connectivity delivered directly to each unit, providing resident speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps download and 500 Mbps upload.

The wireless environment was also modernized using Wi-Fi 6 technology with Edgecore access points, featuring 194 in-unit access points and expanded coverage in common areas. The upgrade also incorporated remote monitoring and automated recovery capabilities to ensure network reliability.
