The Color Purple musical returns to Rio de Janeiro

Brazilian musical theater The Color Purple Alcione Marrom o Musical Rio de Janeiro theater

The musical production “The Color Purple” is returning to Rio de Janeiro for a fifth season. The show is scheduled to begin its run at the Teatro Multiplan in Shopping VillageMall starting October 13, 2026.

Directed by Tadeu Aguiar and based on the novel by Alice Walker, the production features Suzana Santana in the role of Celie. The musical explores themes of racism, violence, and female autonomy in the early 20th-century Southern United States.
