The Conservation Fund acquires 262 acres for Colorado national forest

The Conservation Fund has acquired 262 acres of private land on Loveland Mountain within the Mosquito Range. The nonprofit intends to transfer this property to the U.S. Forest Service to expand national forest holdings.

The acquisition secures year-round public access for hiking and hunting along Trail #450. The area provides panoramic views of the Decalibron 14er peaks and Mount Sherman, serving as a less crowded alternative to the highly trafficked 14,000-foot peaks nearby.

Beyond recreation, the land serves as a critical wildlife corridor for species including elk, moose, and bighorn sheep.
