The Dark Gets In horror film to premiere at BeyondFest

The mock-true crime horror film, ‘The Dark Gets In’, directed by Sean Hogan, is set to have its world premiere at BeyondFest on October 2nd.

The story follows the mysterious disappearance of a teenager named Aisling, whose vanishing from her home leaves investigators with no logical leads, as security footage shows no one entering or leaving the premises. The investigation takes a supernatural turn when a witness identifies the prime suspect as the girl’s long-dead brother.

Director Sean Hogan developed the concept after a previous project was cancelled due to the pandemic. While producers initially suggested a standard true crime documentary, Hogan chose to fictionalize the premise to blend crime mystery with horror. To achieve a sense of documentary realism, the production utilized improvisation, allowing the cast to use the script as a general guide rather than following it strictly.
