The Decemberists and Dario Marianelli announce ‘Wildwood’ soundtrack

The original motion picture soundtrack for the LAIKA stop-motion fantasy film ‘Wildwood’ will be released digitally on October 23 via Decca Records. The album features an orchestral score by Academy Award-winning composer Dario Marianelli alongside three new songs from the band The Decemberists.

The film is an adaptation of the novel ‘Wildwood’, written by The Decemberists frontman Colin Meloy and illustrated by Carson Ellis. The project marks a return to the fantasy world Meloy introduced 15 years ago in his debut novel. Meloy noted that writing the song for the end credits, titled ‘The Better Part of Bravery’, provided a unique way to revisit the story.

Directed and produced by Travis Knight, the film features a voice cast including Jacob Tremblay, Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Angela Bassett, and Awkwafina. Two tracks have already been released: Marianelli’s ‘Journey to South Wood’ and The Decemberists’ ‘The Better Part of Bravery’.
