The Deputy film follows a Texas deputy's transformation

The film “The Deputy,” directed by Matt Sukkar and written by Carlo Bernard, is a crime thriller set in a small Texas border town. Based on the novel by Victor Gischler, the story follows Toby Sawyer, a part-time deputy portrayed by Duke Nicholson, who undergoes a character transformation following a violent night involving corruption and a criminal conspiracy.

Critics highlight Nicholson’s performance as a slovenly and unmotivated law enforcement officer who gradually develops a sense of responsibility. The film features a cast including Tiffany Haddish as Deputy Amanda Jackson, William H. Macy as the Sheriff, and Stephen Dorff as a full-time deputy.
