The Diary of a Middle-Aged Sage anime adaptation set for 2027

Kadokawa has announced an anime adaptation of the series ‘The Diary of a Middle-Aged Sage’s Carefree Life in Another World’. The production is scheduled to premiere in January 2027.

Studio YANCHESTER will handle the animation, with Takayuki Inagaki serving as director. The creative team also includes Hiroko Kanasugi for series composition and Mariko Fujita for character designs. Voice actor Tomokazu Sugita has been cast as the protagonist, Zelos Merlin.

The story follows Satoshi Oosako, a 40-year-old unemployed man who becomes deeply immersed in the VR role-playing game ‘Sword and Sorcery’. After dying during a long gaming session, he is reincarnated into a vast, unknown forest by a goddess, retaining all his original game stats.
