The End of Oak Street underperforms at the box office
The film ‘The End of Oak Street’, written, directed, and produced by David Robert Mitchell, has underperformed at the box office. Despite positive critical reception for the performances of Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, the movie has earned approximately $21 million against a budget estimated between $80 million and $92 million.
Set in 1982, the story follows the Platt family as their suburban neighborhood is transformed into a prehistoric environment filled with dinosaurs. The film was produced by J.J. Abrams’ production company, Bad Robot, and features a soundtrack by Michael Giacchino.
Analysts suggest the film’s commercial struggles may be due to heavy competition from major releases such as ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ and Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’, which have dominated box office earnings and IMAX screen availability.
