The indie horror and puzzle game ‘The Exit 8’ has surpassed 3 million copies sold, according to developer KOTAKE CREATE and publisher PLAYISM. This milestone follows the game reaching the 2 million sales mark in August 2025, adding another million units in approximately one year.

Originally released for PC via Steam on November 29, 2023, the title has expanded across multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices for iOS and Android. A live-action film based on the game was also released on August 29, 2025.

The game features a minimalist psychological horror concept where players navigate a repeating subway corridor, attempting to reach Exit 8 by identifying anomalies. Its success is noted as a significant achievement for a solo-developer project that relied on community word-of-mouth rather than large marketing budgets.
