The Exorcist: Martyrs plot and cast details revealed

Leaked plot details and character descriptions have emerged for ‘The Exorcist: Martyrs’, a full reboot of the horror franchise directed by Mike Flanagan. The film, produced by Universal and Blumhouse, stars Scarlett Johansson as a police detective and single mother.

The story follows the detective as she investigates a new series of murders connected to a notorious satanic serial killer, Father Sunday, whom she apprehended 13 years prior. The character of Father Sunday will be played by John Leguizamo. The plot reportedly involves the detective’s 12-year-old son becoming the target of a demonic force, leading to an investigation that involves several priests.

Cast members include Chiwetel Ejiofor as a priest, Lawrence Fishburne as the priest performing the exorcism, and Diane Lane as the detective’s mother. The film is intended as a complete reboot and is not a continuation of the 2023 film ‘The Exorcist: Believer’.
