The Exorcist: Martyrs trailer debuts starring Scarlett Johansson
Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for ‘The Exorcist: Martyrs’, a new installment in the iconic horror franchise written and directed by Mike Flanagan. Starring Scarlett Johansson, the film follows NYPD homicide detective Julie Miller, who is drawn back into a dark investigation involving ritualistic murders and demonic forces.
The plot centers on Miller’s past, specifically her capture of the satanic serial killer Father Sunday thirteen years prior. A new series of crimes, which appear to target her and her twelve-year-old son, suggests a connection to a lineage of killers ranging from H.H. Holmes to the Zodiac.
The ensemble cast includes Chiwetel Ejiofor as Father William, John Leguizamo as Father Sunday, Sasha Calle as Detective Gina Restrepo, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne. This new direction for the franchise follows the critical and commercial disappointment of 2023’s ‘The Exorcist: Believer’. ‘The Exorcist: Martyrs’ is scheduled for theatrical release on March 12, 2027.
